First installment of "What the hell is it?"

I really enjoy finding the odd handmade item that has no discernible purpose even though you can tell that the krafter *obviously* made it for a very specific function. It is with great pleasure that I present to you these amazing artifacts of kraftivity. What do you think they are? What purpose would they serve? I'm completely baffled. They range in size from 12.5 to 18 inches. I am in possession of seven of these wonderful items.

Material: yarn, plastic clothes pins
Technique: crochet
Provenance: yard sale, Southwest Missouri

Maybe they're baby bib clips--you know, make a bib out of a napkin or towel. Eyeglass holders? Vintage maxi-pad belts? Whatever they are, they're awesome.

Mitten holders? You know, like you put in your coat when you're a kid??

Sock Dryers! You clip one sock to each clip, and hang the little ring on one of the nails sticking out of the laundry room wall (Am I the only one with nails sticking out of my laundry room wall? :)

Those are most definitely sock clippies, just like Kim said. (And Kim, you are not alone. I have nails there, too. Darn handy)

I think they may be nipple clamps. Maybe? It's hard to say for sure...

I am pretty sure they are sock holders, either for hanging them to dry, for keeping them together for storage, or seeing as they are plastic pins, for washing them! :)

My grandmas have tons of weird junk like this floating around.
